MV Foday Nyei was born into the loving union of Mohammed and Massa Sherif -Nyei on March 14, 1954, in Cape Mount County, Liberia. On March 25, just 11 days after his 59th birthday, Foday passed away peacefully from cardiovascular complications at his apartment in Dayton, Ohio. He was laid to eternal rest in Forest Hill Cemetary Garden, about 35 miles of Dayton.
He had five children with wonderful women, including Sara Hill Cooper, Musu X, Rose Nyei, and Delores Coleman Potts. 
Foday and Sarah Hill Cooper had a daughter, Geneva. She was born in Monrovia on October 30, 1975.

Musu X and Foday had three children, Hawa Nyei born on January 7, 1975; Massa Nyei born December 27, 1976; and Mwalimu F. Nyei, born in July 9, 1974. 
In 1975 Foday married Rose Nyei. They had no child. The marriage ended in 1987. In 1996, Foday married Delores Coleman Potts, and after a long separation between the two, the marriage was dissolved in 2009. They had no children.

Simply called Foday or Moiwai, MV Foday Nyei was born into the loving union of Mohammed and Massa Sherif -Nyei on March 14, 1954, in Cape Mount County, Liberia. On March 25, just 11 days after his 59th birthday, Foday passed away peacefully from cardiovascular complications at his apartment in Dayton, Ohio. He was laid to eternal rest in Forest Hill Cemetary Garden, about 35 miles of Dayton.
He was the second of five children of his Mother, Massa Sheriff, and one of many other children of his father. His parents were religious devotees. His father and was an Islamic scholar, a teacher, and a community leader. Mass Sheriff was a businesswoman and stay-home Mother. They taught him the virtue of kindness, compassion, the love for education, hard work, and sharing. Those invaluable lessons that he learned early shaped Foday’s vision and guided him as he embarked on his life’s journey. Throughout his life, Foday’s benevolence, and kindness impacted countless people.
After graduating from William VS Tubman High School, he attended the University of Liberia and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering. He worked at the Liberian Civil Service Department and later joined the Monrovia City Corporation as Director of Press and Social Affairs. It was there that Foday found his true calling. He worked assiduously to promote the interest of Monrovia both at home and abroad. In 1985, Foday’s sacrifice to the city was recognized when the World Conference of Mayor granted him a scholarship to study water resources management at Central State University, Dayton, OH. Even though the City of Dayton later defaulted on the scholarship program for what it called lack of funds, Foday persevered and graduated with B.S. in Water Resources Management. He also earned two Master of Science degrees in Computer Technology and Education with emphasis on hardware and software and Geological Sciences with a focus on Hydrogeology from the University of Dayton and Wright State University, respectively.
After his graduation, Foday worked with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, where he served as Pre-GED and GED Teacher and Reserve Teacher at Dayton Public Schools. He also volunteered as an intern at City of Dayton Water Department; served as a Graduate Assistant at Wright State University City of Dayton, Ohio, among others.
Foday had a great love for many genres of music. His repertoire included songs of Luther Vandross, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, Aretha Franklin, and Michael Jackson. Foday fascination with Tennis and the Price is Right, one of U.S. oldest T.V. Game shows was admirable. In his diary recorded on 12-11-2006, He said he loved game shows because “I enjoy the enjoy to see the expression of winners faces…I am generosity”.
